Brett Santacona is an emerging performer of traditional Cape Breton, and Irish music. It was just 2019 when he took up the personal challenge of learning fiddle on a left-handed instrument passed down from his uncle, Cape Breton fiddler Larry Parks.

Originally from Toronto, he spent several years developing his skills by studying with Cape Breton fiddler Dan MacDonald, drawing from the Sandy MacIntyre repertoire, and attending a private fiddle program in Lakefield, Ontario at the invitation of Natalie MacMaster, all while performing in the city’s Irish music scene.

Since moving to Cape Breton in 2024 he has continued his studies with Kimberley Fraser and members of The Barra MacNeils, while steadily building his place in the local scene through regular sessions and guest appearances with artists like Brenda Stubbert, Lucy MacNeil, and Joe MacMaster.

A multi-instrumentalist with broader performance experience across Canada and the USA, Brett is building a place for himself in the Cape Breton music community through steady work, and a clear respect for the tradition.
