Brett Santacona is an emerging performer of traditional Cape Breton, and Irish music currently based in Georges River, Nova Scotia. In 2019 he began studying on a left-handed fiddle passed down from his uncle, Cape Breton fiddler Larry Parks. Originally from Toronto, Brett spent several years developing his foundation by studying under fiddler Dan MacDonald, and participating in a private fiddle program in Lakefield at the invitation of Natalie MacMaster, all while playing in the Toronto Irish music community.
Since moving to Cape Breton in 2024, he has continued his studies under several of the members of the Barra MacNeils, while steadily building his place in the local scene through regular sessions and guest appearances with artists like Brenda Stubbert, Ashley MacIsaac, and Morgan Toney.
In 2026, Brett was awarded the Big Sampie Award from the Celtic Colours Festival Volunteer Drive’ers Association and Lakewind Sound in support of his debut album. A multi-instrumentalist with broader performance experience across Canada and the United States, Brett continues to establish himself in the Cape Breton music community through performance, collaboration, and deep respect for the tradition.
